Lugo suffers a setback

I’m going to try and put this as positively as possible. Our currently disabled shortstop, Mr. Julio Lugo, has suffered a massive setback in his rehabilitation. He did a few wind sprints in the outfield before last night’s game and ended up having to shut it down because he felt ’something.’

A bit of bad news

I’ve got a bit of (tongue-in-cheek) bad news for Red Sox fans. Julio Lugo swung a bat (and probably missed) for the first time yesterday since straining his left quadriceps on July 11th. MLB.com gives an estimated return date for Lugo as September 1st. That is the same day that rosters expand, [...]

Lowell placed on the DL

The Red Sox have placed Mike Lowell on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle. This will mark the second time this season that Lowell has spent some time on the DL.
Kevin Youkilis will take over at 3rd base and Sean Casey will start at 1st. RHP David Pauley has [...]

Charlie Zink to start tomorrow

After much anticipation, the Red Sox have finally announced the starting pitcher for tomorrow’s game against Texas. Tim Wakefield will get placed on the disabled list and be replaced in the rotation by fellow knuckleballer Charlie Zink.
Zink, an All-Star at Triple-A Pawtucket this year, has been putting up amazing numbers. Unfortunately for him, he’s [...]

Tim Wakefield put on the DL

The Red Sox have put pitcher Tim Wakefield on the DL due to tightness in the back of his right shoulder. This was the same problem that caused Wake to miss the World Series last season. There is no mention yet as to who will take his place in the rotation.
Wakefield is having [...]

Go away Julio!

I’ll admit that I was sort of excited when the Red Sox signed Julio Lugo. His defense was sub-par but he was a .275 hitter with a .340 OBP that was capable of hitting 7 or 8 HR every season. Not only that but it seemed like the revolving shortstop door in [...]
