The Red Sox currently have ten players on the disabled list: Josh Beckett, Manny Delcarmen, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jeremy Hermida, Mike Lowell, Jed Lowrie, Victor Martinez, Dustin Pedroia, Junichi Tazawa, and Jason Varitek. Not only does this equal one of the more expensive DLs in baseball but it is also one of the most talented.

Just take a look at some of their combined accolades:

All-Star Selections: 14
Gold Gloves: 3
League MVP: 1
Rookie of the Year Award: 1
Silver Sluggers: 4
World Series MVP: 2

We just need to have faith that the bench can keep the ship afloat for another month or two until the majority of the team gets healthy again.

Beckett won’t be back until early-mid August. He’ll make a few rehab starts and depending on how the team is joining he might come back after 3 starts or 4.

[...] First time All-Star Clay Buchholz has become the latest Red Sox player to hit the disabled list. Buchholz, 10-4 with a 2.45 ERA in 15 starts this season, strained his left hamstring while running the bases in San Francisco on June 26th. You can officially add a no-hitter to my post on the most talented disabled list in baseball. [...]

If you were to add Buchholz to this list and update the All-Star selections to include 2010, it would read like this:

    All-Star Selections: 17
    Gold Gloves: 3
    League MVP: 1
    No-Hitters: 1
Rookie of the Year Award: 1
    Silver Sluggers: 4
    World Series MVP: 2
