A Rain Delay for the Ages

Very rarely are rain delays any fun. It’s dark and dreary outside. The television is flickering with an episode of ‘Charlie Moore Outdoors’ that Tim Wakefield appeared on, or that movie about Wiffleball leagues in New England. They’ve already shown the obligatory Jonathan Papelbon and Manny Delcarmen music video for ‘Blame It On The Rain’ and the only thing to look forward to is Tom Caron’s smiling mug telling you that there will be a double-header scheduled for some obscure Saturday in August. It’s a baseball fan’s worst nightmare.
That is where the college baseball teams from Western Kentucky and Florida Atlantic come in. They had a similar situation but they decided to have some fun with it rather than sit around clipping the nails on their non-pitching hand. What ensued was a fake wrestling match, semi-grown men pretending to be on a roller-coaster, and a dance-off competition complete with a break-dancer. It’s too bad there weren’t more people in the stands to observe this epicness.
I applaud both WKU and FAU for their part in making rain delays suck slightly less.
