In a time when even the mightiest closer can’t seem to get a 3-run save locked down, there is still one guy the Sox can trust. Daniel Bard has been THE go-to guy over the past month and more.
Do you want to know what the definition of the word ‘effective’ is? Bard has not allowed an earned run since June 25th against the Washington Nationals. Check out his numbers since then:
12 Appearances, 14 Innings Pitched, 4 Hits, 23 Strikeouts, 0 Walks
Yeah, you read that correctly. Daniel Bard, since the last time he ran into trouble, has a 23:0 K/BB ratio. It’s no wonder the Red Sox told every team that inquired before the trade break that Bard was untouchable, eh?
