Report: Ortiz/Manny tested positive in ’03

ortiz-and-manny It’s being reported by the New York Times that lawyers familiar with baseball’s 2003 drug testing have said that David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez BOTH failed the test that year.

Most Sox fans were hoping that Manny had started juicing when he went to the Dodgers. Everyone had this idea that he started cheating because he wanted to show the Dodgers that he was worth big money and that they made the right move trading for him. Apparently, that was not the case.

David Ortiz had never really been linked to performance enhancing drugs until now. He previously mentioned drinking some protein shakes in the DR when he was younger but he had no idea what was in them. It seemed less like an excuse than an admission of youthful ignorance. Now.. not so much. When asked about the ’03 tests on Thursday, Ortiz said “I’m not talking about that anymore, I have no comment.”

My heart is literally breaking one player at a time.
