Kotsay traded to White Sox

Mark Kotsay did not pass waivers, as expected, and has been dealt to the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Brian Anderson.

Red Sox receive: Brian Anderson (OF)
White Sox receive: Mark Kotsay (OF/1B), $$$

This trade, in my mind, doesn’t make too much sense. Brian Anderson is a VERY talented defensive outfielder; however, he’s also 27 years old and is offensively challenged. The Red Sox are probably hoping that they can correct his bat (and give him some patience at the plate?) because he is still under club control for a few more years.
