Jed Lowrie is going to have surgery on his wrist within the next 24 hours. Terry Francona said that the best case scenario is Lowrie will be back by the All-Star break.
Rocco Baldelli continues to be a walking injury. He’s been placed on the 15-day disabled list with sore hamstrings. Jeff Bailey will take his place on the roster.
Julio Lugo will join the Pawtucket Red Sox tomorrow to begin his rehab assignment. Lugo probably won’t join the big club for another couple weeks because he never had a real spring training warm-up this year.
This isn’t injury news but Brad Wilkerson announced his retirement today. No complaints from me, I wasn’t looking forward to seeing him in a Red Sox uniform.
