Jed Lowrie might be done for 2009

This season was supposed to be a break-out year for Jed Lowrie. He finished 2008 by driving in 46 runs during 81 games; however, his productivity the last few months of the season suffered because of an undisclosed wrist injury.
He reported to spring training this year with his wrist at 90% and responded by crushing the ball to a .340 clip. Then the season started and he was a poor 1-18 before he was put on the disabled list with more wrist problems.
If you thought all of that was bad news.. it gets worse. The Red Sox originally reported that Lowrie would be able to rest/rehab the injury but now he is visiting a specialist to see if he needs surgery. If they have to cut him open, he’s done for 2009. That leaves the Red Sox with a SS tandem of ‘Nick Green/Gil Velazquez’ or the scarier ‘Julio Lugo/Nick Green’ platoon.
Just when Boston thought they had seen the last of Julio Lugo
