Daisuke Matsuzaka named WBC MVP

Daisuke has racked up his second consecutive World Baseball Classic MVP award. Matsuzaka went 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA in helping the Japanese win this year’s tournament. That improves his lifetime WBC record to 6-0 with a 1.95 ERA overall. Nasty.
Daisuke threw the 4th most innings of any pitcher participating in the games (14.2) this year. Hopefully that, combined with the more intense training regiment of the Japanese team, won’t lead to him breaking down before the 2009 season is over. Only time will tell but I’m keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
