Epstein has had a man-crush on Kottaras ever since we got him from San Diego. I also have a feeling that he's going to wait for Texas to feel the pressure of having a handful of major league ready catchers and nowhere to put them. That gives Boston an upper hand in the negotiations, not to mention that Mauer will be a free agent and they can always say 'no thanks Texas, we'll just sign Mauer!' The FO said Masterson wil get one more start and then they need to decide if he will be a starter or a reliever. Perhaps Daniel Bard has impressed enough to earn a bullpen spot in the majors... enabling Masterson to stay a starter, and giving Penny more time to get healthy.
