dustin-pedroia-wbcThe World Baseball Classic strikes again! Dustin Pedroia has been put on Team USA’s disabled list for the second round of the WBC. His injury is a strained muscle on his left side (knock on wood that it’s not a torn oblique.) According to Dustin, he’ll be ready for the opening of the season but the team might view things a little differently and have him take a nice slow cautious recovery.

The infuriating part of this injury is what Pedroia said to reporters: “I’ve never had anything like this, maybe I pushed it a little bit too hard too fast.”

Yeah, maybe. Maybe what a ton of people have been saying about the WBC since it’s start is actually true? Maybe it’s NOT a good idea to push professional athletes to their limits before they’re ready.

Daisuke, Youkilis, and Javier Lopez all better have astounding seasons or I’m going to slap Bud Selig upside his stupid head.
