Jason Bay (Canada) and David Ortiz (Dominican Republic) have both returned to Red Sox spring training camp after experiencing early exits from the WBC. Personally I was kind of shocked to see both teams get booted so early but I guess that doesn’t really matter to me. It does however matter to Pedroia, who is still with team USA and couldn’t resist picking on Ortiz:
After getting a text from Pedroia asking when he’d be back at Fort Myers, Big Papi groaned, “Now I’m going to have to (expletive) on that (expletive) all year long, (expletive.)”
Anyway.. it’s good news for Red Sox fans that Ortiz has rejoined the team. He had been playing first base for the DR team and now has a sore shoulder because of it. According to Big Papi, his shoulder wasn’t accustomed to throwing (just hitting) so it was acting up a bit. That doesn’t really make any sense to me but I guess that’s why I’m not an All-Star designated hitter or an MLB doctor, right?
