Jonathan Papelbon likes to set records. His 25 consecutive scoreless innings pitched to start a postseason career is a record and now so is his $6.25 million dollar salary. The club has avoided arbitration with Papelbon and also set a record for an arbitration-eligible relief pitcher’s salary. Who says we’re in an economic recession?!

The Sox have also signed Javier Lopez to a 1-yr deal worth $1.35 mil. Lopez put up a slim 2.43 ERA last season in 70 appearances.
