Sox farm system ranked 13th

It sounds a lot worse than it is, but Baseball America has ranked Boston’s farm system as the 13th “best” in baseball for 2009. That’s quite a jump from 2nd last year but there is a pretty easy explanation of that. Of last year’s top 5 Red Sox prospects (Buchholz, Ellsbury, Anderson, Masterson, and Lowrie), only 1 of them didn’t graduate to the major leagues. Lars Anderson is the only player still waiting for his shot to come to Boston.
