Nothing makes a luke-warm hot stove season (or a boring day at the office) pass a little quicker than reading a few baseball quotes so I’ve compiled a list of my favorites to share. Sorry Yankee fans, no Yogi Berra quotes nothing, these are nothing but gems said by people in the Red Sox organization. Enjoy.
“I think about baseball when I wake up in the morning. I think about it all day. And I dream about it at night. The only time I don’t think about it is when I’m playing it.” – Carl Yastrzemski
“The batter has three strike zones: his own, the opposing pitcher’s, and the umpire’s.” – Ted Williams
“Baseball gives every American boy a chance to excel, not just to be as good as someone else but to be better than someone else. This is the nature of man and the name of the game.” – Ted Williams
“When they knock you down, you not only have to get up, but you have to make it clear that you won’t be knocked down a second time.” – Carl Yastrzemski
“A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.” – Earl Wilson
“Everybody has something to prove each year. Everybody has a responsibility in this game. Even the batboy.” – David Ortiz
“I think winning helps a lot. People talk about chemistry and all that. Chemistry comes with a three-game winning streak. There’s no magic thing.” – Alex Cora
