Coco Crisp traded to Kansas City

After Coco Crisp had a bit of a bounce-back season last year, I figured he’d be big time trade bait this offseason. What I didn’t expect was for him to be traded to the Kansas City Royals, but that is exactly what has happened. Here’s a quick breakdown of the trade:
Boston: Receives right-handed reliever Ramon Ramirez (2008: 2.64 ERA, 70K and 31 BB in 71.2 IP)
Kansas City: Receives outfielder Coco Crisp (2008: .283 AVG, .344 OBP, 7 HR, 20 SB)
Not a bad deal for either side.
Ramon Ramirez is only 27 years old and seems to have a pretty good upside. You might remember him as the guy that set the Colorado Rockies record for most scoreless innings to start a career, or you might remember him as the guy the Yankees traded to get Shawn Chacon a few years back.
I like the trade but I’m definitely going to miss watching Coco Crisp make ridiculous catches on a semi-daily basis.
Anyway, I think it’s safe to say that this means Theo Epstein DEFINITELY sees Jacoby Ellsbury as the CF of the future. Hopefully he’ll get over his sophomore (freshman?) slump and return to performing the way everyone knows he can.

Dang! I really loved Coco’s energy. I’m going to miss him …..alot! Good luck Coco
I’ll definitely miss him too but it will be nice to have some young bullpen help. Our middle-relief was crap last year (despite being mainly the same guys from ‘07, wtf?)
