Dustin Pedroia named AL MVP

Count me in among the list of people that didn’t think Dustin Pedroia’s numbers were good enough to get him the MVP award. People like me are who have kept Pedroia going throughout his entire career. He wants to prove us wrong and he has yet again done so, but this time by being named the Most Valuable Player in the American League.

Pedroia has become the second player in AL history to win the MVP award the year after picking up a ‘Rookie of The Year’ trophy. He did it by getting first place votes on 16 of the 28 ballots that were cast.

His offensive numbers for 2008: .326 AVG, 17 HR, 83 RBI. He did all this while also winning a Gold Glove for his defensive play at second base.

Congrats Petey. Keep proving me wrong.

Just look at his VORP/WARP. They actually made a good call, although I would go for Joe Mauer.

His VORP is vastly helped by the fact that second basemen pretty much suck lately.
