Kevin Youkilis gets robbed of a Silver Slugger award

I’m not one of those people that usually whines about how I feel like a player was robbed of an award; however, this seems like it should be an exception. I want you to take a look at the following offensive numbers and tell me which pair looks better:

Player A: .312 AVG, .390 OBP, .569 SLG, 29 HR, 115 RBI
Player B: .300 AVG, .374 OBP, .499 SLG, 23 HR, 129 RBI

‘Player A’ was Kevin Youkilis and ‘Player B’ was Justin Morneau. Morneau won the award and Youkilis didn’t.

If anybody has a way to quantify why this happened (other than the voters being morons), please share it with me.

The only reason I can think of that Kevin did not win the Silver Slugger was that he played nearly half his games at 3rd base, since Mikey Lowell was on the DL and hurting for a good portion of the season.

Well I checked that out and he played 125 games at first base. Then I looked into the other players and Aubrey Huff won a Silver Slugger while only playing like 90 games at DH. If Huff can play less games at his position and still win, why not Youkilis?
