Drew to DL, Kotsay to Boston?

J.D. Drew has officially been moved to the disabled list thanks to the herniated disk in his back (and his lack of willing to play in a pennant race while experiencing some aches and pains, but I digress..) The move is retroactive to the 18th and Joe Thurston has been called up from Pawtucket to take his spot on the roster.
The Red Sox are now forced to look for a decent replacement for Drew. Neither Coco nor Ellsbury is having a very good year so an outfield trio of Bay-Coco-Ellsbury probably isn’t something that the team wants to work with for more than a few games.
It had been reported on a few major news outlets last night that Boston had landed Atlanta outfielder Mark Kotsay. The story has since been changed to ‘close to getting Kotsay.’ He would be an ok replacement in the outfield until Drew comes back. Kotsay is currently hitting at a .289/.340/.418 clip which is a pretty big downgrade from J.D. who is at .280/.408/.522 with 19 HR despite missing significant playing time.
Nothing has been worked out with the Braves yet but Kotsay was taken out of the lineup last night as the trade got worked on.
