Lowell placed on the DL

The Red Sox have placed Mike Lowell on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle. This will mark the second time this season that Lowell has spent some time on the DL.
Kevin Youkilis will take over at 3rd base and Sean Casey will start at 1st. RHP David Pauley has been called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to take Lowell’s space on the roster. Pauley will probably take Charlie Zink’s spot in the rotation but that’s only a guess on my part.
