Charlie Zink to start tomorrow

After much anticipation, the Red Sox have finally announced the starting pitcher for tomorrow’s game against Texas. Tim Wakefield will get placed on the disabled list and be replaced in the rotation by fellow knuckleballer Charlie Zink.

Zink, an All-Star at Triple-A Pawtucket this year, has been putting up amazing numbers. Unfortunately for him, he’s stuck on the depth chart behind one of the most solid knuckleball pitchers of all-time. The Red Sox wouldn’t risk keeping two of them on the roster at once, so even though Charlie Zink has had some dominating moments, he likely won’t be a permanent fixture with Boston until Wakefield retires.

Charlie Zink’s 08 Numbers: 2.89 ERA in 152.1 innings with a .228 BAA

You already posted Wakefield being placed on the DL (http://www.soxaddict.org/2008/08/11/tim-wakefield-put-on-the-dl/)
Is the on the DL now? I’m asking because you write in this piece “Tim Wakefield will get placed on the disabled list”. I’m confused

Yeah, apparently they’re not going to place him on the DL until today, but it will probably be retroactive to the day I wrote the post.
