Jason Bay arrived to the park early today to get some work in. He had only played a few games at Fenway Park and needed to get in some work learning how to field balls off ‘The Monster.’ The effort paid off as Bay saved a run with a sliding catch in left field and managed to handle every bounce that the wall gave him. His contribution didn’t end there..

Jason Bay won us tonight’s game (with the help of Jed Lowrie) and it started with his first at-bat in a Red Sox uniform. After the three minute standing ovation ended, Bay walked and ended up scoring on a sac fly by Lowrie. He scored the only Red Sox run until the bottom of the 12th when he hit a scorching triple to deep center and was driven in on a walk-off single by Lowrie. A pretty successful debut, eh?

Jason Bay’s Red Sox Debut: 1-3, 2 BB, 1 3B, 2 R

Other Notes: Mike Lowell left the game with what was described as a hip strain. He’s listed as day-to-day so far.
