Aardsma and Lugo injury updates

I could talk about Manny Ramirez slowly jogging down the line last night and helping John Lackey keep his no-hitter alive. I could talk about how the Angels just got a LOT better by acquiring Teixera while the Red Sox have done nothing. I could talk about Manny supposedly requesting to be put on the DL because of his achy knees. Fortunately I won’t do any of those things because I’d rather discuss David Aardsma and Julio Lugo.

David Aardsma, threw off a mound yesterday for the first time since being put on the 15-day DL a little over a week ago. Aardsma is suffering from a right groin strain but seems to be making a lot of progress in making his way back to the active roster.

The same can’t really be said for Julio Lugo. Lugo has a “severe left quad strain” but the extent of his recovery is that he can now limp through the clubhouse without the help of a brace. It doesn’t look like he’ll be back for a while so Jed Lowrie and Alex Cora will probably be platooning at SS for the next month.

Personally, I think Lugo has accepted that Lowrie is the better man for the job and is chosing to act hurt and recover slowly… and I applaude him for it. :)

Haha ;X If only that was true. I do think that with Lowrie in the mix, there is next to no pressure for Lugo to return.

Maybe Lugo will go with Manny… Hell, if we’re talking to FLA why not send them both to the Marlins for Hanley straight up?

I’ll have Manny updates all day at The Bottom Line blog.
