Charlie Zink gets screwed by the IL

We mentioned the other day that 5 Pawtucket players have been elected to participate in the International League’s All-Star Game (link). Among them was RHP Charlie Zink, who is leading all starters (with 100+ IP) with a 2.22 ERA. Unfortunately because Zink pitched last night, the IL decided that they didn’t want him to participate in the All-Star Game.
But wait.. that’s not it. Not only have they barred him from playing at the game but he isn’t even allowed to show up.
Zink said after his win last night, “I’d like to go to the game. I’d like to at least be part of the opening ceremonies but they said no.”
Are you joking? This is his first All-Star selection and they won’t even let him participate in the opening ceremony? I’m not the only one shocked by this (link). Hopefully the IL changes their mind because there is no reason he shouldn’t be allowed to hang out at the park with his fellow All-Stars.
