Mike Timlin placed on the DL
Timlin has been placed on the 15-day DL (retroactive to June 17th) with tendinitis in his knee. This move allows the Red Sox to take Daisuke Matsuzaka off the DL and still keep reliever Chris Smith on the active roster for a few more days.
