Fill Yankee Stadium with Red Sox players

This years All-Star Game will be held at Yankee Stadium in New York. I can think of nothing more satisfying than to fill the entire field with Red Sox players as a final goodbye to the field (it is being demolished after this season.)
The ASG balloting so far looks like this, with their ranking [...]

Daisuke’s walks catch up to him

We knew it would happen sooner or later that the excessive amount of free passes Daisuke has given up this season (38 walks in 64 innings) would hurt him.
I was always using the words ‘hurt him’ in a non-literal sense. I expected the walks to eventually make his ERA blow up or turn the [...]

The big man continues to impress

Yes, he’s only pitched two games. Yes, they were against two of the worst offensive teams in the league. That doesn’t make what Bartolo Colon has done any less impressive. He’s taking the right steps in resurrecting his big league career.
Last night was just another move down that road as big Bartolo [...]

Ex-Sox pitcher Geremi Gonzalez killed by lightning strike

Ex-reliever Geremi Gonzalez was struck by lightning and killed yesterday. He was only 33 years old.
Gonzalez pitched for our atrocious bullpen in 2005. He had a 6.11 ERA in 56 innings pitched. He was picked up as a free agent after playing for the Cubs, Rangers, and Devil Rays.
Although he wasn’t the [...]

Justin Masterson gets a promotion and demotion at the same time

Justin Masterson came up to Boston for one night, pitched well, and is now on his way out of town. He is being sent back down to the minors, but not to where he came from. Masterson earned himself a promotion from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Pawtucket.
In place of Masterson, the Sox have [...]

Justin Masterson does his job

Masterson (Or JMast as I call him) looked good again tonight as he earned his first major league win, going 6 1/3rd innings and giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 3 walks. It feels so good to know that when we have a guy get hurt like Buchholz, that we’ve got someone [...]
