Daisuke’s walks catch up to him

We knew it would happen sooner or later that the excessive amount of free passes Daisuke has given up this season (38 walks in 64 innings) would hurt him.
I was always using the words ‘hurt him’ in a non-literal sense. I expected the walks to eventually make his ERA blow up or turn the 0 in his Loss column into an actual number. I didn’t expect them to ACTUALLY hurt him but that seems to be the case as Daisuke left the game last night in the 5th inning with “shoulder fatigue.”
Because of the walks alone, Matsuzaka has probably thrown twice as many pitches this season as he should need to. That is never a good thing for a pitcher’s body, regardless of if they had a 200+ pitch game one time in high school like D-Mat did.
It hasn’t been announced yet if he will miss his next start but I wouldn’t be surprised.
