Thinking back on it, I bet the Yankees wish they had kept David Ortiz’s jersey buried beneath the new Yankee Stadium (link.) Check out the difference in his numbers before and after the “Extraction Ceremony”:

Pre-Jersey Removal: .070, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Post-Jersey Removal: .314 BA, 9 HR, 34 RBI

Thanks New York; now Papi broke out of his slump without even having to share a thong with any of his teammates!
