Ok sure, it may have been against a bunch of college kids but the Red Sox showed no mercy in their first 2 games of the spring. From Josh Beckett (2IP, 4K, 0H, 0BB) to Pedroia/Ortiz (each with a monster RBI double) to Manny Delcarmen (1IP, 2K) to Justin Masterson (2IP, 1H, 1K, W). Absolutely ruthless.

For any hitters on BC or NEU looking for one of those “when I was in college, I homered off Josh Beckett” moments to share with their grandkids, it just wasn’t going to happen. Josh said:

“Someone said to me that I really ought to let them hit it. I said, ‘No way. I’m not going to let them hit it. I’m trying to get ready for the season. I’ve got work to do.’ It doesn’t matter who we’re playing, it could be the media game, a college team, I don’t care. I’m approaching it the same way.”

Rough. The final scores?

Game 1: BC 0 @ BOS 24 F/7
Game 2: NEU 0 @ BOS 15 F/7
