Manny hires Scot Boras as his agent

Manny arrived to spring training on the day players were supposed to, for the first time in a few years, and has spent every day he has been in Florida talking about how he wants to stay with the Sox. Boston holds an option for the ‘09 and ‘10 seasons at $20 mil a year. He has told the media that he wants them to pick up the options and he’d like to play at Fenway for a few more years. Ramirez may be getting older but he still has quite a few MVP caliber seasons left in him so I see this as a good thing.
Now for the bad news.. Manny has switched his agent to Scott Boras. This almost guarantees the fact that he won’t retire in a Red Sox uniform. Boras will more than likely try to skyrocket the price of Manny’s next contract (in 2011) and I highly doubt the Sox will pay premium cash for a 38 year old media-hating outfielder.
Manny joins Ellsbury (who signed with the devil over the winter) as Boras’ newest Red Sox clients. Just when I thought the A-Rod contract screwup and Sheffield v. Boras was going to sink the evilest man in baseball.. he makes a comeback.
Sox players represented by Boras now include: Alex Cora, J.D. Drew, Jacoby Ellsbury, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Manny Ramirez, Julian Tavarez, and Jason Varitek. He owns almost 1/3rd of our 25-man roster. Terrifying.
