Youk avoids arbitration

Transaction: The Sox and Youk agreed to a 1y/3m contract today, avoiding a long and tedious salary arbitration hearing.
My analysis: Pretty sweet deal for both sides. Youk was the catalyst for the Sox offense during 90% of 2008. When nobody else was hitting, he was crushing the ball and getting on base constantly. That in addition to a gold glove caliber defense makes him a bargain in an era where the cost of solid infielders is steadily rising.
